The Wheatstone LNG Project is a multi-train Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and domestic gas (DomGas) plant near Onslow on the Pilbara Coast. Bechtel is honored to participate in the engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up of this LNG plant.

Role Overview

The Field Engineer Piping will be responsible for working with the area discipline engineers to plan execution of piping, mechanical interface, and preservation of modularized and stick-built installation activities for the ISBL through system completion and testing, as well as turnover to startup and pre-commissioning.

Specific responsibilities will include:

Following design development and, where possible, suggesting economical and safety enhancing construction details to be incorporated into design drawings and specifications for both construction facilities and permanent plant
Participating in the preparation and review of construction cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
Assisting in developing several scopes of work
Reviewing RFI's and other reports for trends and common problems
Coordinating and reviewing vendor drawings as required
Tracking permanent plant items received and assist in receipt inspection and maintenance
Contributing to the subcontracts formation, including scope of work, drawing list, milestone schedule, Bechtel furnished materials list for bulk installation, and contractor packages.
Performing technical reviews of subcontractors' proposals; review and evaluate subcontractors technical suitability
Reviewing and coordinating subcontractors deliverables
Forming strong working relationships with subcontractors, other departments and disciplines.
Supporting preservation activities for tagged equipment, valves and bulk materials.

Basic Qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualifications
Previous experience in a similar role, preferably on an LNG project
Experience in building Work Packages required
Experience in working with sub-contractors is required
Familiarity with Australian codes
Previous experience using Teamworks and PTR will be highly regarded
Must be able to work FIFO, camp status.

*** Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
