Job Description:  CH2M HILL Certified Water Operator II - Camden, SC
The Challenge! To perform a series of operations and maintenance services to our Client at Invista in SC. Our Certified Water Operator II will perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of Industrial Water Treatment. This position is fully qualified to perform the most complex functions and typically holds a high-level industrial water treatment certification in SC. Minimum "C" Level Water Certification for the State of South Carolina is required in order to be considered for this position.

Our Operator:
  • Diagnoses operating problems; directs and performs necessary corrective action during work shift
  • Reads gauges and meters, starts and stops equipment, and operates valves to route and control flow, makes process control adjustments, determines and sets proper chemical dosage and flow rates, and operates PLCs and SCADA systems
  • Complies and reports non-compliance and Project Policies and Procedures
  • Prepares required reports and maintains complete record keeping procedures
  • Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses on industrial discharges, plant influent
  • Makes entries in plant logs
  • Conducts meetings and training sessions pertaining to safety, process control, etc
  • Makes operating decisions in the absence of supervisory personnel
  • Maintains discipline and ensures proper procedures are followed
  • Assists in the interviewing of prospective employees
  • Gives instructions and assignments to plant operators
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work
  • Performs other duties as required

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certification at a level required by the State in which the project is located "C" Level Water minimum
  • 3-4 years experience in operating water/wastewater treatment plants
  • Possess a valid driver's license with no major infractions in past 5 years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six years experience operating water treatment plants
  • Highest level certification in the State in which the project is located
  • 1-2 years post high school education related to water/wastewater utility operations and maintenance
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment; general maintenance work; safe work practices; principles and methods of biological and chemical sewage analyses, effects and problems of industrial waste in water/wastewater treatment processes, principles of supervision

High School or GED

Preferred Years of Experience

3-5 years
