Job Description:  Analysts perform financial, statistical, economic data collection and analyses, creation and management of spreadsheets and databases, preparation of documents, and engage in various cost control activities. The primary focus of the position is to analyze and monitor "at risk" construction projects, the general conditions budgets, and to provide research on construction opportunities in the mid-west.

B.    Key Areas of Responsibility


  • Assist Project Teams in monitoring the status of at-risk construction projects involving GMP, Construction Manager as Constructor, and Construction Manager with Guaranteed or Fixed General Conditions forms of contract.   Responsibilities shall include:

  • Assisting the Project Team with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports and other required analyses.
  • Review Project monthly reports for accuracy and consistency.
  • Bring issues or concerns to the Regional Controller or Regional Executive for discussion with Project Management or Senior Management.
  • Assist with new business activities including the preparation of Go/No Go forms, risk analysis documentation, and coordination.   Tracking and updating information on new business opportunities across the region;
  • Coordinate with multiple corporate departments to collect, format, and analyze data for various reports required by senior management, including but not limited to:

  • Monthly Project Status Report (monthly)
  • New Business Report (bi-monthly)
  • GMP Status / Meeting (monthly)
  • Create monthly trade requisitions, track/monitor subcontractor costs, and maintain project accounting database as assigned.
  • Project budget report development and analysis, highlighting potential risk and reserve issues.  
  •   C.    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    1.    Understands the construction process, inherent risks, and liabilities.

    2.    Ability to work with different levels of both technical and administrative personnel;

    3.    Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize, multi-task, and adherence to deadlines;

    4.    Commitment to detail including the ability to incorporate edits and follow standard report formats;

    5.    Excellent communicator including the desire to ask questions and learn from co-workers;

    6.    Cooperative, team player with a strong sense of commitment and dedication;

    7.    Proactive outlook with constant attention to improvement and is comfortable offering and receiving suggestions;

    8.    High comfort level with quantitative analysis but also proficient in qualitative writing skills;

    9.    Ability to maintain confidential, corporate information and answer requests by senior management;

    10. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint is required.   Proficiency in Microsoft Access and Adobe PDF Writer is strongly preferred.

    D.    Work Experience Requirements

    1.    Three to seven years of related experience and/or training in construction or a related field is required.

    2.    Knowledge and experience required for the position includes knowledge of the construction business and strong analytical, computer, and both written and oral communication skills.

    E.   Educational Requirements
    1.    Bachelors degree in engineering, construction management, finance, accounting or business desirable.
