Minimum Requirements: • Minimum B.A./B.S. degree in Geography, Cartography, Environmental Science, or related field • Minimum 2 years of professional GIS experience • Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS 9.3 including Spatial, Geostatistical, and 3D Analyst • Working knowledge of building GIS databases and using GIS to solve problems and present results • Must have experience conducting georectification of imagery (such as lidar) and maps • Must have experience with GPS technologies and field mapping and data collection software (such as ArcPad and TerraSync) • Must be proficient in standard office computer applications and software, to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, ArcSDE/Server • Position requires analytical and interpersonal skills, and solid planning and organizational skills. • Ability to be able or be trained to operate a 4WD vehicle • Must have a Security Clearance/Secret Level • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test Job Description: The Infrastructure & Environment division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented GIS Technician for immediate employment for the Herndon office, based in Hawaii. Incumbent Responsibilities: • Support the GIS component of the URS managed Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) Program for Range Division Hawaii (RDH). • Data collection, GIS management, GPS usage, and database assembly and maintenance. • Utilizes GPS equipment and software for field data collection, using ArcGIS and related modules • Utilizes ArcGIS software for data editing purposes and plot map creation • Also responsible for post-processing, editing, and management of data The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to those listed above.
