Minimum Requirements: Masters degree with Register of Professional Archaeologists' (RPA) certification. Knowledgeable in prehistoric North American archaeology, California archaeology and Southern California experience required. Must be able to be certified by state and federal agencies and Southern California counties as a Principal Investigator. Minimum seven years work experience in related field (with 3 years of experience in Southern CA and two years in county where you are pursuing certification.) Ability to prepare scopes and costs for projects as part of marketing efforts. Manage a staff of archaeologists, architectural historians, and paleontologists, and as-needed field technicians to successfully complete fieldwork. Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills are required. Applicants should be highly self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and perform detail-oriented work. Must possess excellent working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point. Writing sample required with submission of application that reflects the requirements of the position (e.g, technical report, DPR forms, other related documents). Minimum one year of experience as a technical group manager or minimum five years of experience as a senior project manager are required. Successful candidate will also be required to complete the URS Project Manager Certification Program within six months of start date. Position will serve as team lead to manage a group of 10 to 15 full and part time cultural resource professionals, and will include responsibility for a wide range of managerial tasks, such as staff development and performance reviews, business development planning and execution, group financial performance as well as technical leadership.
Technical responsibilities include supervising field monitors and field crews; preparing or supervise the preparation of monitoring reports and cultural resource technical reports; preparing EIR/EA/EIS cultural resource actions and independent technical reports, coordinating with clients and sub consultants. Knowledge and experience with the National Environmental Policy Act, the California Environmental Quality Act, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, and federal, state, and local agencies environmental review processes and requirements is essential.
Additional responsibilities will include working with group and division managers to develop and market the cultural resources group, as well as playing an active role in construction projects and permitting for private and public projects including Caltrans, Bureau of Land Management, California Energy Commission, and others as required.
