Project Description:
The Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) Project is a coal seam gas (CSG) to liquefied natural gas (LNG) development project on Curtis Island, near Gladstone, Queensland. Gladstone is located approximately 450 kilometers north of Brisbane on the east coast of Australia. Australia Pacific LNG has Australia's largest CSG reserves position and is well placed to enable the creation of a world-class, long-term industry in Queensland, Australia. The Project consists of the development of the LNG plant which will have a processing capacity of up to 9 million tons per annum (Mtpa).

Bechtel is performing the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) on the project. The project is scheduled for completion in late 2016 with a workforce primarily on a camp status, fly-in/fly-out basis. The project will be performed using a Bechtel Direct Hire workforce with select subcontract support.

Unless otherwise indicated, applicants for construction positions should have heavy industrial (Direct Hire or Construction Management) construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken and the requirements identified below.

Role Overview
The Craft Supervisor - Weldingwill be responsible for but not limited to; execution and planning of all direct hire welding activities in his area of responsibility, including task allocations, priority setting, monitoring and maintaining welder qualification registers, coordinating any NDE, NDT, PWHT and other testing requirements for all field welds whilst coordinating with other discipline superintendents, craft supervisors, field engineers to undertake work scope.

Basic Qualifications
  1. Must be qualified to A.S.1796 Cert 10
  2. Ensure that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with for welding activities.
  3. Promote the Zero Accident Philosophy in every aspect of work. Actively support safety on the jobsite and participate in scheduled safety meetings.
  4. Determine work force and material requirements. Monitoring of work activities and ensuring quality of work performed
  5. Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation
  6. Participate in the planning and management of personnel, plant, equipment, subcontractor and procurement activities to achieve the project deliverables
  7. Approving craft time records using established automated tools
  8. Ensure that all project rules, work practices and procedures are complied with
  9. Ensure the correct activities are worked to support overall scheduling objectives
  10. Monitor the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with rules, work practices, and schedules
  11. Participates and assists Project Controls in the preparation of four week schedule and budget control
  12. Coordinate with Work Force Services for the recruiting, vetting, hiring and on boarding of craft personnel. Responsible for application of the project Work Force Services procedure for Counseling and Disciplining System.

Additional Information
  1. 10 years minimum experience with Direct Hire supervision of welding work activities in heavy industrial plants
  2. Familiarity with applicable Australian codes and standards(ASME9 B31.3 AS1554)
  3. Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program
  4. Awareness of environmental compliance laws and requirements
  5. Good automation skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
  6. Good communication skills
  7. Above average team player, self-motivated and proactive

Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
