Job Description:  Regional Safety Manager, Energy & Chemicals, Spartanburg, SC

The Challenge? Regionally supporting the Energy & Chemicals Business Group in the safe delivery of Construction Management services for our diverse Energy and Chemicals projects including development of remote natural gas fields, hydrocarbon processing facilities chemical manufacturing and pipe lines.

Job Overview. Expectations and opportunities for the Regional Safety Manager 2 position in CH2MHILL's Energy and Chemicals Business Group Eastern Region include;

1) Building and maintaining a consistent framework of programs that underpin a Health and Safety program that is compliant with stringent regulatory and E&C BG requirements and the demands of our clients.

2) Evaluate the Safety and Health risks of potential business opportunities and support the business development effort by promoting the CH2MHILL TargetZero philosophy as a proven method to reduce loss, enhance schedule and control cost.

3) Provide Health and Safety oversight and assistance to the various CH2MHILL project management teams in the Eastern region to include hazard recognition and control, policy and program administration and incident investigation.

4) Manage the Health and Safety staff in the Eastern region including budget, recruiting and maintaining a team of qualified Health and Safety professionals as well as managing their professional development.

5) Visit projects frequently to meet with clients, evaluate conditions and audit compliance with Health and Safety requirements. In some circumstances, temporary mobilize to project may be required to provide additional support.

6) Office safety is an integral part of CH2MHILL's Health and Safety program. The Regional Safety Manager 2 will be located in either the Spartanburg or Houston Delivery Center and will be responsible for further developing and managing the office safety program.

7) Other CH2MHILL Business Groups operate in the Eastern region. The Regional Safety Manager 2 may be called upon to support these efforts. Supporting other entities in CH2MHILL is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and have exposure to industries outside of hydrocarbon infrastructure.

Each day you will apply your experience and technical knowledge to managing the E&C safety and health programs that directly support the personnel assigned to the Eastern region and those projects directly managed by the E&C Business Group. You will provide advice, and resolve or assist in resolving Health and Safety issues. Your independent and forthright recommendations will be a necessary input to the Eastern regional director. As the regional manager of Health and Safety, you will interact with your corporate counterparts who are responsible for overarching company policies and procedures to maintain E&C compliance with company directives while ensuring that the unique requirements of our nuclear clients are met.

The candidate must be a highly motivated individual with a BS degree and a 12 plus year track record in the Energy and Chemicals industry and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally. The Regional Safety Manager 2 position for CH2MHILL's E&C business group in the Eastern region is a professional development step toward ultimately leading a larger, more complex organization within CH2MHILL.


SPECIAL NOTE: CH2MHill will not sponsor a work visa (e.g. H1B, etc.,) to fill this position.

Basic Qualifications

BS required, MS in industrial hygiene, safety, or related field preferred. CIH or CSP required and both strongly preferred. Strong preference will be given to graduates of applicable ABET accredited programs.

12 years in HS&E and, at least 3 in compliance/Environmental Management

Degree Required

Bachelors or 4 Year Degree
