Requisition ID: The Manager of Leadership North America-East will be located in the Reston, VA office. This position will be part of a team that includes four other regional faculty leads in North America-West (Houston), Europe/Africa/Middle East (London), Asia Pacific (Brisbane, Australia) and Latin America (Santiago, Chile). All will collaborate with one another and report to the Corporate Manager of the Bechtel Leadership Academy and will be responsible for implementing the corporate leadership development curriculum and supporting leadership development programs for their regions as well as helping to develop and deliver customized local programs. As the Regional Faculty Lead for North America-East , the successful candidate will be responsible for understanding Bechtel's business strategies, organizing resources to provide leadership learning and tools at all levels for projects and businesses in their region, and serving as the central point of contact for Bechtel university programs in their area. Candidates must have a track record as a leadership development and learning professional, including working with a worldwide/diverse clientele and hi-potential populations. S/he must also have proven experience as an effective project/process manager, facilitator, and trainer, as well as some experience in instructional design (classroom and web-based). This role is responsible for analyzing needs as well as designing, developing, delivering and continuously improving learning content for target populations throughout the Bechtel "Leadership Pipeline." - Working the Bechtel Leadership Academy team to design and manage programs that enable leaders to understand and apply the Bechtel Leadership Model (BLM), Bechtel Covenants and Leadership toolkit worldwide.
- Collaborating with internal groups (e.g., Global Business Unit Executives, Bechtel University Advisory Council, HR staff, and EPC functions) to assess development needs and design programs that build leadership and people management capability.
- Partnering with Bechtel leaders and business, functional and service organizations to assess, plan and implement innovative development solutions (e.g., classroom, e-learning, and social networking tools), that address organizational capability gaps and enable successful fulfilment of business goals and objectives.
- Building learning interventions that accelerate the development of employees at all organizational levels and hi-potential leaders in key company roles.
- Employ development and discovery-based delivery methodologies that clearly link learning to business performance, career development and engagement.
- Facilitating selection and use of technology-based and "blended" (on-line, simulation, classroom, and web-based), leadership, business skills and career development learning resources that will maximize relevance, impact and understanding across a global audience.
- Serving as a developmental and learning partner/consultant to businesses, functions and regions, assisting businesses and HR leaders in the translation of business goals and objectives into targeted learning strategies and tactics.
- Developing executives as teachers so that they may participate various learning programs.
- Collaborating with external thought leaders, vendors, learning/development partners and professional networks.
Education and Experience: - A Master's Degree is required. A degree in Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Sciences or business is strongly preferred; although other areas will be considered as long as candidate has appropriate experience.
- Eight years of experience is required in adult learning/ leadership development, use of progressive and innovative learning methodologies, organizational development, and/or human performance improvement methods.
Other Qualifications/Experiences: - May require up to 30% travel, domestically and internationally.
- Must have no permanent restrictions on mobility; is likely to be asked to relocate at least once in career.
- Excellent knowledge of state-to-the-art leadership development and learning methods and technologies.
- Strong internal consulting and partnering experience/skills with senior leaders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with demonstrated persuasive project leadership and team building skills, presentation skills and creativity.
- Skilled in use of technology, Web 2.0/ social media (including threaded discussions and blogs, for example), for program development and delivery.
- Demonstrated action orientation and able to drive for results.
- Experienced in the use of career assessment and development methods and resources.
- Highly driven and self-sufficient with an entrepreneurial attitude.
- Interested and passionate in the type of projects that Bechtel performs.
- Ability to quickly assimilate and analyze a broad range of business and human capital information and effectively use insights to create innovative learning solutions.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
