Description: Provide Geographic Information System (GIS) support of studies and investigations necessary for the permitting, engineering, and construction of civil, petrochemical, and other projects in Bechtel's Houston, Texas office. The successful applicant will be assigned to the GIS team in the Oil,Gas and Chemical (OG&C) Global Business Unit in the Geotechnical and Hydraulic Engineering Services (G&HES) organization, and will functionally work with the GIS Discipline Lead to support GIS Discipline. The individual will be required to perform work tasks in conjunction with other technical specialists in G&HES, and engineers, designers, and project management. Key responsibilities are as follows: Assist in defining GIS project needs, develop conceptual design, and plan implementation. Document workflows, COTS requirements and data conversion specifications. Research and procure GIS, CADD and imagery data resources needed for GIS projects. Perform spatial analyses to derive new GIS datasets needed to meet project requirements. Assist the pursuit of new GIS projects and clients and help conduct client presentations. Provide technical writing to support GIS metadata and project documentation. Assist in all phases of GIS development, including: needs analysis, requirements definition, application and database design, data development, application programming, installation, quality control, user training, acceptance testing, and system rollout. Develop GIS deliverables, such as spatial data, cartographic maps, GIS spatial analyses and GIS desktop / web applications. Assist in the preparation of scope and schedule estimates for GIS project support. Assist in developing GIS opportunities and integration of GIS into existing and future OG&C projects. Interface with, and represent GIS to, OG&C project management teams. Travel to and stay at jobsites in the U.S. and overseas for up to several weeks at a time. Additional Requirements: Degree in Geography, Computer Science, or related discipline. A minimum of 5 years of hands-on GIS experience using ArcGIS and ArcGIS extensions. Demonstrated strong technical expertise in GIS, Geo-Information management, and related technologies. Demonstrated broad knowledge of ArcGIS and ArcGIS extension tools and functions. Experience with Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure and Environment (SDSFIE) data model and/or FGDC Metadata standards. Energetic, self-motivated, self-managed, team player, and results-oriented. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Energetic and positive attitude working with multiple clients on a wide-variety of projects. Prior knowledge of GPS, remote sensing, photogrammetry, geodesy, database administration and management, and GIS automation using VBA, AML, Avenue, VB, C++, HTML, XML, KML, Python and/or Java Script is highly desirable. A strong background in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD is highly desirable. Familiar with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. QA/QC experience for ensuring data integrity Right to work and remain in the United States; U.S. citizenship preferred.
