The challenge? Our Operations and Maintenance Management careers provide you with an opportunity to lead the management and execution of all operations and maintenance activities in accordance with the requirements of the contract between CH2M HILL and clients, and in accordance with quality, safety, and cost control standards.

This position reports directly to the Account's Operations and Maintenance Manager and is responsible for management and execution of all operations and maintenance activities at a specific client site(s) in accordance with the requirements of the contract between CH2M HILL and clients, and in accordance with quality, safety, and cost control standards.

The Operations and Maintenance Site Manager (Site Manager) provides motivation and direction to the operations and maintenance (O&M) team at an assigned client site(s), typically through multiple superintendents, foreman and/or operation supervisors. The Site Manager's decisions have a significant impact on the resource requirements, scope/schedule/sequence of project activities, client and/or team satisfaction, risk profile, quality, health/safety/environment, and financial performance of assigned projects.

The Site Manager is responsible for delivering results for a functional area, comprised of multiple departments, and has accountability for the achievement of current and near-term business objectives for area of responsibility. This role achieves results through subordinate supervisors.

The Site Manager must have a proven track record with a multi-national oil and gas company or an industrial company, preferably with experience managing O&M operations at an R&D facility. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership traits of the highest caliber over a 10-15 year career in the O&M field.

The Site Manager maintains good relationships with clients and end users/customers. Is a leader of craft workers through, interaction with supervisors, scheduling, monitoring and assisting work performance in all facility maintenance trades and subcontracted services. Provides advice, counsel and assistance to supervisors regarding all aspects of company practices in areas assigned.

The O&M Site Manager:
  • Oversees and directs operations and maintenance personnel and subcontracted work trades engaged in daily operations of all equipment, systems and processes, equipment installations, facilities equipment repair, and preventive maintenance.
  • Has demonstrated the capability to manage various crafts on large craft projects of above average complexity.
  • Is responsible for overall craft work progress and performance on the project for assigned crafts.
  • Supports the development of less experienced personnel through active coaching, mentoring and training.
  • Leads and manages the craft project team(s) consistent with established project delivery processes to ensure the orderly, efficient, and timely completion of the project scope in accordance with requirements specified in the contract documents.
  • Completes the scope of work to the satisfaction of the client and management, while simultaneously ensuring that CH2M HILL's HS&E, quality, compliance, financial, risk management, business and policy expectations are met.
  • Continued condition assessments of the client's property, grounds, building's, associated infrastructure and equipment & systems performance.
  • Consistently demonstrates and promotes a continuous improvement culture for all O&M activities.
  • Always seeks opportunities to reduce cost of operations and seeks out efficiencies in all O&M activities.
  • Plans, budgets and schedules in support of facilities shutdowns and special projects.
  • Creates quality assurance programs, performs audits to ensure quality of service.
  • Develops and reports out monthly metrics status of customer generated and reactive work order status, PM completions and aging, equipment status and related performance criteria.
  • Develops forward thinking strategies and implementation programs to continuously improve the service delivery.
  • Has the required licenses and certifications to perform this job function in the Houston and/or New Orleans market.
  • Maintains a high level of expertise in the operations and maintenance support function. Provides direction and assistance to personnel and interface with all departments served.
  • Responsible for managing all labor resources on the project to include hiring, firing, reward & discipline processes.
  • Schedules, monitors and assesses work performance in all facility maintenance trades and services.
  • Has administrative, computer, communications and demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Inspects work in progress to ensure established standards have been met and prepares reports on work performance.
  • Reviews purchase requisitions for supplies, equipment repairs, vendor related work, tools, etc.
  • Writes facility status reports on structural and mechanical equipment problems, electrical systems and recommends solutions.
  • Implements standard trade practices and procedures coexistent with proper safety precautions, to produce quality workmanship, commensurate with that of a Journeyperson skilled in areas such as HVAC, carpentry, electricity and electronics, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing and pipe fitting, etc.
  • Read and understand blueprints and/or schematic diagrams. Works within the client's permit framework and complies with all required City of Houston or New Orleans parameters.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field, or additional 5 years experience
  • Must be advanced in computer usage including Microsoft Office and CMMS
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a management role in Operations and Maintenance programs, including industrial, semi-industrial, R&D and/or Oil and Gas facilities
