Minimum Requirements:

- MA or MS Degree in History, Archaeology or related field.

- Minimum 10 years of experience in Decorative Arts with focus on American glass, at least 5 years in a supervisory role.

-Ability to communicate clearly in writing. Experience with conducting and supervising laboratory analysis of historic material and with writing archaeological technical reports. Writing sample may be required.

- Experience in project management and client relations.

-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel and Access).

-Valid Driver's License with a good driving record and the flexibility to travel overnight and out of state for up to 2+ months at a time.


Job Description:

The Environmental Services Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Historic Glass Specialist for immediate employment in the Burlington, New Jersey office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in cultural resources management, specific to conducting field investigations, artifact analysis and report preparation. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. Some of the projects the incumbent can look forward to include Phase II and III investigations for the I95 Corridor project in Philadelphia, PA; cataloging of glass artifacts recovered from the National Constitution Center; various Phase I and II investigations in New York City; and Phase I, II and III investigations in the Hudson River Valley, New York.

• Conduct and/or coordinate research and writing tasks on history of Philadelphia glass industry for web-based interactive report.
• Mentor laboratory staff and assist in developing competencies in cataloging and analyzing historical artifacts.
• Works with Laboratory Managers and Production Manager to insure artifact cataloging, analysis and report preparation tasks are met.
• Coordinate and implement public engagement programming.
• Work with Project and Laboratory Managers in planning and development of museum exhibits.
• Accompanied by a Project Manager, will participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements, defend work, etc. in terms of specific project issues.
• Responsible for Quality Control of project tasks and products.
• Work with Project Manager to develop and implement new marketing strategies.
• Organize symposiums on project related topics.
