Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum eight years of public/private experience in general accounting, month-end closing, financial statement analysis, financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets, inter-company transaction, payroll reconciliation, audits, and SOX compliance.
Excellent technical accounting skills; strong knowledge and experience with GAAP; effective listening skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong time management and organization skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, solve problems under time constraints, meet deadlines and deliver results; must have a strong sense of urgency; take accountability for projects and assignments to ensure their ultimate completion; detailed-oriented; must be able to work with complex Excel spreadsheets and computer systems; ability to decipher large amounts of data without getting lost in the details and ability to present in a summarized format for management presentations.
Advanced knowledge with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and macros desirable) and Word, with ability to understand and create complex Excel Worksheets.
Individual must have the ability to supervise and provide guidance to the accounts payable team. Ability to work with all levels of employees ranging from clerical level employees to senior management. Ability to work with all types of personalities. Job Description: This position is in the General Ledger group, part of the nine-member URS Corporate Accounting team. The team is responsible for closing the Corporate books, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the Corporate Financial Statement. As a team member, you must be accountable and take full ownership for assigned projects and responsibilities. To be successful in the position, you must be a quick learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment, produces quality work product, stays focused under pressure and gets the job done.
Day-to-day responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: - Supervise the Accounts Payable department - Prepare complex journal entries and ensure the timely closing of the Corporate book - Prepare account reconciliations and take the appropriate actions to clear all reconciling items - Perform financial statement analyses and document meaningful explanations for fluctuations to assist management with business decisions - Prepare and review inter-company transactions, translations, settlements and eliminations - Review and post A/P vouchers - Prepare and review property tax, sales tax, miscellaneous business and payroll filing - Assists with annual proxy statement - Develop and implement process improvements, document desktop procedures and processes to achieve efficiencies; - Perform other special projects as assigned
This position reports to the Assistant Controller.
Must be conscientious in controlling costs within his/her area of responsibilities.
