Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field with minimum two years of experience in environmental consulting specializing in site assessment (Phase I's and II's) and remediation
• Experience conducting Caltrans Environmental Assessments and ADL field programs
• Strong project and task management, field investigation, analytical and computer skills required, as is an understanding of California environmental regulations
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team and write technical reports
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record required
• 40-Hour HAZWOPER training or ability to meet OSHA requirements for HAZWOPER training
• Experience and familiarity/understanding of California environmental regulations
• Experience preparing work plans and field investigation reports
• Must work well with professionals, technicians, sub-contractors, and analytical laboratories as well as with multiple offices and have the ability to work with and to varying degrees manage people, Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field with 2 years minimum experience in environmental consulting specializing in site assessment (Phase I's and II's) and remediation.

The I&E Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Field Geologist for immediate employment in the San Jose office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in the Geosciences, specific to Environmental Investigations and Remediation types of projects. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including Phase I's and II's, subsurface soil and groundwater investigations, Caltrans Environmental Assessments, and environmental remediation projects, among others.
Incumbent Responsibilities:
• Primary roles include: Field work, including lithological logging, collection of soil and groundwater samples, well installation and aquifer testing will be required of the selected candidate. Analytical data analysis, report preparation, evaluation of alternatives, and data summaries will be required, developing and managing tasks and/or small projects from work plan and report preparation, budget / proposal preparation and overall task coordination with limited supervision, coordinating and overseeing a variety of drilling / subsurface investigation techniques, preparation of log borings in accordance with USCS, installation of monitoring wells in accordance with applicable guidelines and providing fieldwork oversight of subcontractors.
• Must be familiar with field investigation techniques, laboratory analyses and waste characterization criteria, human health screening criteria, interpretation of geologic and chemical data for surface water, soil, soil gas and groundwater and be capable to prepare and complete reports summarizing field procedures and results. Conducting field sampling for soil, soil vapor and groundwater is required in a variety of environmental settings.
