Minimum Requirements: • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Design or a Structural Engineering degree • Minimum seven years of relevant experience on infrastructure and facilities projects, with particular emphasis on waterfront, coastal and maritime projects. • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of California (Civil or Structural). • Experience as a design structural engineer working with concrete, steel, masonry and wood with an understanding of the corresponding design Codes and Specifications, such as IBC, ASCE 7-05 & 7-10, and NDS. • Experience in lead design roles for waterfront projects including piers, wharves, bulkheads and seawalls. • Experience performing structural inspections of waterfront structures is preferred, including piers, wharves, bulkheads, seawalls, and bridges. • Knowledge of structural design software such as RISA, SAP 2000 and/or STAADPRO. • Ability to write reports using clear and succinct technical language, as well as possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. • Knowledge of CADD software such as AutoCAD and Microstation. • This position requires completion of the URS Project Management Certification program within 6 months of hire. This certification program is a series of learning modules and is available on-line through the URS Learning Management System at no financial cost to the employee. • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. Job Description: The Infrastructure & Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a highly talented Structural Engineer for immediate employment in the Ports & Maritime Department of the Long Beach office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate relevant experience in facilities and waterfront structural engineering. Incumbent Responsibilities: • Work with URS design teams in order to deliver well-coordinated design documents and innovative cost savings approaches to design projects . • Provide senior design and constructability oversight for URS structural design teams to assure successful project delivery. • Assist in feasibility studies of alternative design approaches in collaboration with the project team and client representatives. • Collaborate with the project geotechnical engineer to provide cost effective foundation solutions. • Collaborate with the project civil engineer to provide effective site development solutions. • Accountable for project planning and design management to meet project budgets and schedules. • Prepare and review appropriate, organized, and thorough design calculations. • Prepare and review project design drawings and specifications. • Adhere to the URS Quality Assurance process. • Work with the construction team reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFI's.
