Minimum Requirements: Bachelors or higher degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university. Minimum fifteen years direct relevant experience in design engineering of instrumentation/controls work for industrial facilities including chemical, petrochemical, power utilities (generation and substation) and/or pipeline. This experience should include functioning in a supervisory role. Master's degree in related engineering discipline can substitute for up to two years of work experience, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience. Licensed in the state of Illinois or demonstrated ability to get license within one year of hire. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Experience in business development and marketing of engineering services. Must be able to travel to field project locations to meet with clients, perform new project walk-downs, and climb stairs at these locations. Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) or the ability to obtain one. Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. Job Description: As a technical expert inside and outside his/her office, the candidate makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities. Is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on his/her technical interpretations and advice. Applies specialized knowledge and shares expertise with colleagues. Responsible for team management, planning, organizing, controlling, reporting and leading. Develops operating and growth plans, including staffing recruiting and training. Determines workload for the I/C team, including short-, medium- and long-term business goals and objectives. Maintains effective communication within the team and with clients. Identifies, analyzes and addresses the root causes of both personnel and project issues. Tracks and reports on the team's monthly financial performance, sales and backlog; may analyze and recommend corrective actions. Reviews and submits for approval the team's expenditures, including conference and professional activity approval requests. Performs administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services. Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the technical work performed in the department, service, laboratory or firm. Works with multiple teams to pursue, manage and deliver projects. Establishes, promotes, and ensures quality on all projects and work performance. Proactively monitors projects to identify and address financial, safety and liability issues, as well as to ensure completion on schedule. Identifies when project requirements exceed available technical skills or manpower capacity and develops plan of action with next level management to seek help from other work units, hire new staff, and/or subcontract work, etc. Closely monitors and manages the team's weekly sold time and direct labor to ensure goals are met. Review, recommend changes to, and prepare project cost estimates. Monitors performance of staff and provides mentoring and constructive feedback. Conducts departmental meetings and evaluates work performance of staff. Ensures staff meets safety and other division mandated training requirements. Provides staff evaluations and development plans.
