Minimum Requirements:

BS in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in bridge or related structural design experience. The individual should have the ability to oversee bridge and structures design for a range of complex transportation projects. Specific experience in conducting bridge ratings for MassDOT is required. Registration in MA is required or the ability to obtain through reciprocity. Highly organized and ability to support multiple projects / proposals at a given time. Must have very strong communication skills - both written and verbal. Must be familiar with standard design codes. Must have technical qualifications in Structural software, including STAAD, OPIS, Conspan, MDX, LPile,VIRTIS, NHI - Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges, and MS Office Suite, including MS Project. Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. Must have a Valid Driver's License.



Job Description:

The Boston office of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented bridge engineer for immediate employment. In this position, the candidate must have the ability to direct and mentor staff in the completion of their assignments. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in the design and constructability of bridges and other structures for a wide range of transportation projects. Incumbent Responsibilities:
• Design responsibility. The candidate will manage complex assignments and must be able to independently manage the work and the team. Assignments will include the preparation of designs, plans, specifications, construction documents and reports.
• Technical oversight. The candidate must have the ability to direct and mentor staff in the completion of their assignments. The candidate will review and approve calculations and other supporting analyses prepared by project staff. Technical input to constructability reviews and other construction related questions for bridges and other structures.
• Business development. The candidate will participate in marketing and proposal efforts as required.
• Interaction with clients. The candidate will interact with clients such as the MassDOT and MBTA. The candidate will also interact with multi-disciplinary and multi-office project teams within URS and must be able to effectively work in team settings. The candidate will interact with Senior Managers in the New England operations, as well as interact with marketing/sales departments to support the development of proposals and other marketing materials and participation in local events.
