ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The System Strategy Manager [SSM] is ultimately responsible and accountable for all business aspects (i.e. functional, technical and operational) of the requirements and analysis phase of The Nature Conservancy's [TNC] Microsoft SharePoint environment - CONNECT.  This position ensures that the final deliverable of any new feature or enhancement development project meets all of the intended needs of the business. This person acts as the primary resource in the requirements phase of a project, and a primary representative in the design, development and user testing phases of the project.  Primary responsibilities include the following:
  • Plan and manage tasks associated with all phases of a software development work: requirements gathering, design, development and testing.
  • Perform requirements gathering and analysis to include: analytical techniques, interview techniques, data gathering techniques, current system documentation, business modeling methods, business process, rules and logic, data gathering to solve complex issues, development of implementation plans, development of requirements, and key analytical troubleshooting.
  • Design software solutions through the definition of business processes and workflows, software application navigation flow, user interfaces and reporting layouts, etc.
  • Develop and implement test plans / scenarios to ensure that test conditions, scripts, validation criteria, and expected results will successfully test the business and non-functional requirements.
  • Development and documentation of the long- and short-term strategy, planning and deliverables for the system.
  • Serve as a key representative of the system to the organization at-large by promoting the innovative use of SharePoint with staff, partners, supporters and volunteers through presentations and trainings.
  • Lend support to various business and technology teams as necessary during design, development and delivery to ensure solid, scalable, robust solutions.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal (i.e. day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written (requirements and design specifications) form, as well as have an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communication
  • Accurately assess the risks associated with each solution design / project.
  • Support the development of SharePoint knowledge and expertise across TNC from a professional and technical level.
  • Work closely with project managers and operations staff to facilitate the planning, delivery and value assessment of solutions.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as requested.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science or related field.
  • 5 years of experience as a business professional, 2 years of business analyst experience.
  • 2 years of SharePoint 2010 experience (i.e. requirements development, design of SharePoint sites, etc.)
  • Experience in defining business/system requirements, writing user stories and developing user test scripts.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with project management fundamentals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the organization and interact, influence and negotiate effectively at all levels.
  • Strong communications and presentation skills (written and verbal).Strong knowledge of technology and how it can be used to increase productivity. 
  • Excellent project management, time management, and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Definition of scope and objectives for systems through research, fact-finding, and analysis of business and user needs combined with an understanding of applicable business systems. 
  • Proven ability to accurately translate business requirements into system requirements, and vice versa.
  • Ability to adapt or modify processes in response to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to interpret guidelines and analyze available information for the purpose of coordinating efforts, planning, and implementing projects.
  • Collaborate with other TNC staff to identify synergies and leverage solutions across business units and IT efforts/teams.
  • Sound decision-making based on analysis, experience, and judgment.
  • Proficiency with desktop office automation tools required. 
  • Experience with InfoPath preferred
  • Experience with NewsGator (SharePoint component) preferred
