Role Overview
Senior level licensing position as a member of the Nuclear and Environmental Group.
Duties include FSAR/Tech Spec reviews, DCN/EDCR design bases evaluations, NRC inspection support, and miscellaneous Licensing interfaces with respect to Inspections, Tests, Analyses, and Acceptance Criteria (ITAAC). Preparation of ITAAC closure plan and documentation. Coordination with other engineering disciplines and the NRC will be required. Will also support supervisor in developing and maintaining scope, schedule, estimate, and budget.
Duties may include supporting development of Combined Operating License Application (COLA) and Early Site Permitting (ESP) Applications for potential new nuclear units for several customers, assisting in development of materials and presentations for the preapplication review of an advanced nuclear power plant design, reviewing technical materials prepared by others which may involve the original preparation of first of a kind technical descriptions, responding to NRC requests for additional information (RAIs), and support to the Atomic Safety & Licensing Board (ASLB) hearings.
Additional duties may involve providing licensing support for operating nuclear power plants, including Extended Power Uprate (EPU) and Steam Generator Replacement (SGR) projects, reviewing 50.59 evaluations in accordance with 10 CFR 50.59, Reg. Guide 1.187, and NEI 96.07, preparing design baseline documents, and performing hazards analyses (flooding, fire protection and 10 CFR 50, Appendix R, evaluations). Travel may be required (domestic or international, business trip or short/long term assignment).
The candidate should have broad knowledge of the following:
Understand the US regulatory process for nuclear power plants and the documentation supporting that process, including Regulatory Guides, Standard Review Plans, General Design Criteria, Branch Technical Positions, etc.
Understand BWR and PWR nuclear power plant design, including the NSSS scope of the design.
Capable of identifying and resolving technical issues, coordinating, providing technical direction, and reviewing the work of other engineers.
Strong background in BOP system design, including circulating water, make up water, service water, water treatment, fuel oil storage and transport, fire protection and HVAC.
Experience in general operating plant work, safety evaluations, and design change packages.

Basic Qualifications (Candidate must meet all qualifications in order to be considered) .
  • Must have at least 10 years engineering experience in nuclear power plant design and/or licensing.
  • Must have Bechelor of Science (BS) degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Must have prior experience in ITAAC or acceptance testing at a nuclear power plant.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Must have the right to work and remain in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Must be capable of passing nuclear security screening requirements and have the ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • Master of Science (MS) degree in an Engineering discipline.

  • Must have at least 15 years experience as a Licensing engineer and/or nuclear design engineer, performing the job duties and responsibilities as described above.
  • Must have authored a professional society journal and/or presented a paper at a professional society organization meeting.
