The Role: Tesla Motors is seeking a motivated and experienced manufacturing applications specialist to be based at the Tesla Vehicle Factory in Fremont, CA. This person will work with manufacturing engineering teams and IT to develop and support a world class manufacturing modeling and simulation, analysis, and data management infrastructure. S/he will have experience with 3D CAD and PDM/PLM tools (CATIA V5/V6, ENOVIA V6) and other related tools as well (e.g., DELMIA, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, LabView, etc.). This person should have a strong work ethic and a positive, flexible attitude. Tesla is a fast-paced environment where you will work on key technologies of an extremely exciting product. Responsibilities: Support of the corporate CATIA and Designer Central portion of ENOVIA V6 Supported areas include Body-in-White, General Assembly, Powertrain, Battery assembly, Paint, Stamping Collaboration with Tesla IT to drive resolution of technical issues Management of license distribution for engineering tools, including CATIA, DELMIA, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, LabView, etc. Keep abreast of current and upcoming trends and needs to inform software purchases and infrastructure development Issue resolution and enhancements requests with technical service providers and software developers Coordination of training and methods development plus evangelization of best practices for supported tools Project management and evaluation of software applications for functionality/use. Effective communication with management, maintenance, process engineers, design engineers, and suppliers. Requirements: BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or IT) or other applicable degree. MS preferred Experience in automotive design and manufacturing environments is highly preferred Specific experience with Robotics, manufacturing simulation, Tooling Design, Machining, Manufacturing flow, layout, equipment and production is a plus. Experience in manufacturing and engineering tools, including CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and DELMIA Familiar with PLM/PDM tools and methodology. Strong preference will be given to applicants with prior CATIA/ENOVIA V6 experience. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair issues with end user desktop configuration Solid understanding of Digital Manufacturing and 3D Modeling Ability to debug/work with machines (manufacturing hardware and client desktop/laptop) to prove application functionality A customer-support orientation with exceptional follow-through Good interpersonal and written communication skills plus the ability and desire to teach others Self-directed, with the ability to work in an entrepreneurial, scrappy and fast-paced environment Tesla Motors is committed to a policy of equal employment opportunity.
