We are a world leader for providing environmental and engineering services for the power transmission and distribution (T&D) community. Our clients are both network owners, such as transmission and distribution utilities, and network users, such as generators, electricity consumers and rail network operators. With more than 80 years of service, we work with more than 300 power utilities in over 50 countries. Our T&D project work includes the following: •Transmission and distribution analysis and network planning •Power generation systems analysis •Substation and transmission line design •Power system protection •Communications •SCADA, metering and energy management systems •Load dispatch centers •High voltage underground cables •Transmission and substation siting and land planning •Sub-soil investigation and earthing systems •System efficiency and loss reduction programs We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Vice President, T&D Programs in the New York City area, with a Bachelor's Degree in engineering and a minimum of ten (10) years directly related to "selling and doing" large, complex, and capital intensive projects, preferably in the high voltage transmission industry. Must be well-versed in successful marketing practices, and have a proven track record in leading a team for proposal preparation, and for the effort needed to win the work. Previous experience as a project manager for large capital projects is highly desired. An advanced degree is preferred, and the ideal candidate will have an active Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or PMP certification. The Vice President, T&D Programs provides for the consistent sale and delivery of an ongoing program of inter-related high voltage transmission projects across a traditional electric utility industry customer base. Responsible for achieving quality outcomes, financial performance, and client satisfaction. Requires a solid understanding of business constraints related to high voltage transmission capital investments including the availability of resources and the priorities and relationships of projects in view of the program's objectives. Requires a broad depth of experience determining technical and business development strategy and delivering strategic impact. Generally responsible for serving as the principal liaison for assigned clients, and maintaining a close client relationship while mining potential opportunities, responding to RFPs, obtaining contract awards, delivering contract commitments, and ensuring client expectations are met or exceeded. May be involved in obtaining staff and contracted services as needed to ensure quality and timely completion of work, within budget. Assigned book of business may entail capital programs of around $1B. Routinely resolves difficult issues with significant financial impact. Interacts with executive level clients, and public officials on significant program matters, often requiring coordination between organizations. Assesses and manages risks associated with assigned programs. Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on a broad range of business activities. Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key decision makers and officials of other organizations and companies. Possesses skill in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues. The successful candidate will have demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems, and determining and organizing program objectives and requirements. The position requires prompt and accurate communications to appropriate levels of the T&D practice, and project and senior management within the company. Initiates and completes, or assigns the remediation of any conditions which may adversely affect the completion of programs or projects on schedule and within budget. Reporting to the Energy East Business Line Executive, the Vice President, T&D Programs will receive supervision which is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits. Receives assignments in terms of broad general objectives and limits. Make decisions in the development and implementation of operating processes and procedures. Supervisory responsibilities are essentially over a program, yet may directly manage individuals. Mentors and develops program and project staff, providing leadership and an environment which encourages teamwork, initiative and growth. Thorough understanding of procedures and company policies is required. Performs duties with a great deal of autonomy, and exhibits sound independent judgment. The position requires solid written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Computer skills using programs such as MS Outlook, Word, and Excel are necessary.
