Mission: AECOM is seeking motivated professionals to work as part of a large team to support a declassification review for the Department of the Navy to satisfy the automatic declassification requirements of Executive Order 13526, Classified National Security Information. Analysts will review records across a number of national security domains at locations across the National Capital Region. This position offers growth opportunities and the potential for long term employment on similar contracts. Title: Junior Declassification Analyst Report To: Team Leader - Automatic Declassification Basic Functions: Conduct initial declassification reviews in support of the Department of the Navy (DoN) Automatic Declassification Program. The Junior Declassification Analyst will use their analytical skills to apply DoN policy and procedures in making determinations on documents for declassification, exemption, exclusion or referral to other agencies. Each candidate must have demonstrated strong analytical skills, reading comprehension, attention to detail, and organizational abilities. Required: - Final DoD Top Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one. - Bachelor's degree in History, Political Science, or International Affairs or three years relevant work experience required. - Successfully passing DoN initial declassification training and the Department of Energy's Historical Records Restricted Data Reviewers Course. Main Duties: Document Review: • Analyze unclassified and classified documents to determine the appropriate action needed in accordance with section 3.3 of Executive Order (E.O.) 13526. • Proper understanding of document markings and ultimately proper handling. • Working knowledge of exemption categories 1-9 under section 3.3 of E.O. 13526. • Ability to properly recognize actual and possible nuclear weapons and intelligence information in all types of documents. • Ability to correctly apply the DoN Declassification Guide. • Able to research information and ask questions to make informed decisions. • Ability to apply proper records management techniques to ensure the integrity of reviewed material. Other: • Assist in any other role or function that supports the efforts of the project. • Ability to move boxes weighing between 15 to 25 pounds.
