AECOM is seeking a talented and creative Interior Designer for a position in our Roanoke, Virginia studio. We are seeking a strong communicator, with a positive and collaborative work style, who can provide design support under direct supervision for a wide variety of project types. Basic knowledge of the design process from concept, through its evolution into design documentation is required. The candidate must have excellent time management skills, must be detail oriented and focused, work well under pressure, and prioritize multiple project deliverables. Duties and Responsibilities: • Develops and maintains an understanding of building codes and construction regulations • Develops design solutions for a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity, and may support a more senior interior designer or architect in executing others' design and vision • Works under general supervision to prepare layouts, sketches and space plans required to convey design intent • Prepares required working drawings including plans, details and schedules using Revit and other related design software, under direction of a senior team leader • Assists with selection and research of project finishes and materials, furnishings and equipment • Assists with preparation and editing of project specifications under direction of a senior team leader • Prepares presentation boards and manuals under direction of a senior team leader Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from a CIDA accredited program, degree in Architecture with a focus in Design, or equivalent • Generally 2-4 years minimum of professional experience with an architectural firm designing buildings and producing contract documents • Actively seeking state Interior Designer certification preferred • Basic knowledge of the design process, including FF&E, furniture systems and specifications, millwork design, color and materials • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Proficient in Industry software including two or more of the following: Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office • LEED accreditation, or desire to obtain it, is strongly preferred • Flexibility to travel within the United States and Internationally • Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information • Submit professional portfolio with 3 examples of past work, preferably work from government or commercial projects What We Offer AECOM is a place where you can put your innovative thinking and business skills into high gear and work alongside other highly intelligent and motivated people.
