Job Description:  AECOM is hiring an experienced Construction Inspector II for Manhattan water main project.  Must have at least 3 years experience and NYCDDC experience and water main experience at the inspector level.  The selected candidate will monitor conformance to quality, performance, safety and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties under the supervision of a more senior inspector.
Duties include but not limited to:

  • Perform daily field inspections of operations such as the construction of storm and sanitary sewers, catch-basins, water mains, curbs, sidewalks, roadway base, structural steel and structural concrete
  • Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records including but not limited to Daily Reports, Concrete Reports, Asphalt reports etc.
  • Reconcile quantities on a daily basis with the contractor's representative
  • Ensure the contractor performs work in accordance with the plans, specifications and the Agency's procedures.
  • Ensure quality of workmanship
  • Identify areas of non-conformance and recommend requirements for remedial corrective actions
  • Track progress, identify issues and provide detailed written reports as required by the agency when progress is affected.
  • Participate in reporting of work performed, punch list development, testing and commissioning
  • Assist supervisor with general guidance to entry-level inspectors
  • Provide on-the-job training to new inspectors
  • Implement and follow project and all safety procedures.
  • Implement and follow all Quality Management System procedures
  • Perform tests as required by contract such as concrete slump and air entrainment slump tests.
  • Ensure all necessary approvals are in place prior to commencement of a construction activity such as permits, sheeting, materials, equipment and shop drawings.
The selected candidate will need to effectively communicate (written & oral) and understand scope of work requirements. This position will require an individual that is willing to perform a variety of tasks and is a team player. Candidate will be required to uphold Corporate Quality Assurance/ Policies/Procedures. Performing inspection duties for architecture and/or engineering functions to ensure conformance to quality, performance, safety and/or code requirements. Provide QA reports to supervisor for approval. Maintain inspection records. May recommend requirements for remedial corrective actions.
Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • AS in Engineering Technology or related field desirable.
  • NICET II Certification desirable.
