Responsibilities:
The qualified consultant will be the Signal Engineer for Caltrain CBOSS PTC project on an operating railroad with commuter rail operations. The Consultant shall support Caltrain CBOSS PTC Project Manager as well as the Project Engineer and provide Train Control design review and acceptance effort for Caltrain. The consultant is required to interface with Caltrain CBOSS PTC prime contractor and JPB functional groups as necessary in support of delivery of Caltrain CBOSS PTC project.
Duties:
Act as the owner's representative on the CBOSS PTC project. Review and comment on all technical submittals relating to Signaling and Train control. Respond to technical RFI's. Provide direction, with respect to Signaling and Train Control, to the various leads and groups on the PTC project. Provide Train Control change, estimate and quote review and recommendation.Work with various groups within the JPB to assure the completeness of activities. Review and amend as necessary for improvement internal processes. Qualifications:
- 20 plus years of applicable work experience signal system design, installation, system test, commissioning, operation and maintenance in the commuter rail freight environment.
- Interdisciplinary skills in the following areas:
- Wayside Signal and Train Control systems including PTC, ABS and cab signal.
- Microprocessor based and relay based interlocking control.
- Central office control facilities Highway-Grade crossing systems
- Traffic signal systems interface
- Familiar with configuration management system process and implementation.
- Ability to promote cooperation and working relationships among different teams and multiple technical disciplines.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be self-directed and self-motivated.
- Must have the ability to take an activity from conception to implementation and closure.
- Must demonstrate a record of managing project adherence to scope and schedule.
