The qualified consultant will be the Project Engineer for Caltrain CBOSS PTC project on an operating railroad with commuter rail operations. The Consultant shall support Caltrain CBOSS PTC Project Manager and provide overall design review and acceptance effort for Caltrain. The consultant is required to interface with Caltrain CBOSS PTC prime contractor and JPB functional groups as necessary in support of delivery of Caltrain CBOSS PTC project.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Act as the owners representative on the CBOSS PTC project Review and comment on all technical submittals.
- Respond to technical RFI’s
- Provide direction to the various leads on the project such as the Train Control lead the Communication Lead, Control systems lead, vehicle lead, software lead, etc…
- Provide change, estimate and quote review and recommendations.
- Work with various groups within the JPB to assure the completeness of activities.
- Review and amend as necessary for improvement internal processes.
Qualifications:
- BSEE or equivalent relevant experience.
- Professional License in the state of California preferred.
- 15 plus years of applicable work experience signal system design, installation, system test, commissioning, operation and maintenance on commuter rail system.
- Interdisciplinary skills in the following areas:Central office control facilities.
- Highway-Grade crossing systems
- Traffic signal systems
- Wayside Signal and Train Control systems including PTC, ABS and cab signal. Microprocessor based and relay based interlocking control.
- Data Communications systems including wireless and fiber optic based media for local and wide area networks
- RF Communication s systems (wide area data / voice, microwave, local high speed data)
- General communication systems such as telecommunications, CCTV, PA/VMS, TVM, etc…
- Solid subsystem / system interface and integration experience. Familiar with configuration management system process.
