Job Description:  We are seeking to hire a senior level environmental impact assessment and permitting manager to support work in NY and NJ.
Job Description:

  • This role provides technical and operational oversight of Department including staff in several offices. Specialized expertise required in environmental impact assessment and permitting including linear permitting within New York State and New Jersey for electrical distribution and gas pipeline systems.
  • Manages and coordinates subordinate staff. Reviews official directives and correspondence to ascertain such data as changes prescribed in programs, policies, and procedures, and new assignments or responsibilities delegated. Confers with subordinate supervisory personnel and read staff reports and records to obtain data, such as status of on-going work or projects and projected completion dates. Plans activities and work projects and assigns unit supervisory personnel responsibility for carrying out and completing specific projects and duties.
  • Coordinates activities of various units in order to provide designated functions or services with minimum delay and optimum efficiency and accuracy. Conducts staff meetings for dissemination of pertinent information. Trains and evaluates performance of supervisory personnel and reviews performance reports prepared on staff.
  • Provides primary consulting services to clients. Develops strategy, prepares proposals, negotiates contracts, and executes the project or program. Assures that peer review procedures and applicable standard operating procedures are followed for all project-related activities. Identifies and commits appropriate company resources to accomplish project goals.
  • Ensures that standards and requirements are met in the areas of health and safety, budget and cost control, overall project financial performance and quality. Controls project cost, schedule, and quality of work.
  • Makes decisions concerning approved expenditures to meet project budget, preventing the need for write-offs, and maximizing project margin.
  • Reviews, communicates, and manages the project health and safety plan so that project personnel, client and subcontractors are aware of risks and hazards, and accidents are prevented.
  • Mentors and develops staff, providing leadership and an environment, which encourages teamwork, collaboration, initiative and growth. Enhances and augments company business development success by presenting technical papers at industry and professional meetings and conferences.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/advanced degree
  • 15 years of industry experience
  • Extensive experience with linear permitting within New York State and New Jersey for electrical distribution and gas pipeline systems
  • Detailed knowledge of New York and New Jersey State permitting requirements including SEQRA, Article VII, NYDEC, NJDEP, NJ Executive Order 215 of 1989, and Coastal Zone
