Job Description:  The Operations Manager will be based in our Long Beach, CA Office.  This person will be providing day to day operations management in support of the District Business Line Manager and District General Manager. Responsible for ensuring the success of an office from both the technical practice and operational success. Is responsible for projects profitability and client satisfaction, as well as managing administrative functions to see the office runs smoothly.  Works in conjunction with district or regional leads to ensure financial success of the office, division, district, or operating unit.

Responsibilities:


  • Interface with Project Managers to develop work plans and work schedule and ensure this is communicated to project staff and department managers.
  • Develop Fiscal Year Plan annually, evaluate Department performance, and create action plans to achieve objectives.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the responsibilities to both the Company and the client as set forth by the contractual agreements.
  • Implement and administer operational procedures, controls and administrative systems necessary to meet contractual obligations and department goals.
  • Interface with accounting department to manage reporting and invoicing processes.
  • Review Operating Reports with District senior management on a regular basis.
  • Monitor performance vs. budgets and develop strategies for corrections before overruns occur and advise project and District management of such.
  • Assist marketing team and District management in evaluating scope and contract requirements including interface with legal as required.
  • Assist with recruiting and hiring of candidates, including preparation of offer letters.
  • Assist with the implementation of various corporate initiatives.
  • Coordinate personnel performance reviews and merit/cost of living salary adjustments and bonuses.
  • Oversee project close-out activities.
  • Ensure that QA/QC procedures are being implemented and followed at all phases of a project in accordance with company Quality Assurance Program.
  • Oversee administrative staff.
  • Review and approve weekly timesheets for Department.
  • Review and approve expense reports.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS Degree
  • 10 Years of consulting experience in the environmental OR engineering fields.
  • 5 years supervising a team of greater than 8 employees
  • 5 years of project management experience required
