Supporting the Regional EVP for Construction Services, the Business Development Director will possess a well-rounded background in key market segments for Construction Services. The primary focus of this position is day-to-day business development, marketing and sales efforts for the Mid-West region of the Construction Services Business Line. Working in conjuction with Regional Executives, corp marketing and business executives, Alliance executives, and other AECOM business line leaders, the BD Director will develop and implement strategic objectives and tactics for the business development and marketing efforts to both current and potential clients.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Leads regional initiatives for the development of specific objectives and strategies to create a comprehensive and viable business development program.
- Provides broad and comprehensive knowledge of all matters related to the business of the organization with an eye towards identifying new sales perspectives and driving business growth.
- Identifies and prioritizes potential market segments and customers that are aligned with economic trends, market conditions and Company's success factors.
- Facilitates business growth by working together with clients as well as business partners (such as AECOM collaboration leaders, joint venture partners, alliance partners ).
- Build and maintain high-level contacts with current and prospective customer and other business and project partners.
- Prepare and implement business development action plans for targeted markets and customers. Keep all apprised of actions planned by involved members of the corporate team.
- In conjunction with corporate marketing and communications, develop major proposals, presentation and brochure materials.
- Provides expert advice and direction and drive prospects through to contract award, including identifying new customers and markets, developing approaches to the market, identifying prospects, and proposal preparation. May assist with final contract negotiations with client.
- Coordinate targeted research on a continuous basis.
- Positively influence and persuade executives, managers and potential clients with final goal of securing contracts and building trusting relationships.
- Responsible for continuously expanding and updating professional knowledge and honing skills and competencies to enhance individual and team innovation and productivity.
Knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes
- Four year relevant degree (Marketing, Business, Engineering)
- At least 10 years experience at a management/director level as a business development professional.
- Expert knowledge of the operations of a construction enterprise.
- Must possess excellent technical knowledge and communications skills, with ability to orchestrate collaborative team efforts to secure trust driver relationships with clients.
- Build consensus across the operating business segments and help them compete in their distinct markets.
