Job Description:  AECOM has an opening for a Manager, Safety Health & Environment to manage a SH&E program across Maryland, DC Metro, and Virginia. This position can be located in a number of AECOM area offices in Maryland, Virginia and DC as this person will travel as needed >50% of the time. Relocation is not available for this position.
Responsibilities:


  • The Manager will provide technical support and considered resident experts regarding safety and industrial hygiene.
  • Duties will include hazard assessments and mitigation planning, safety training delivery and program management, supporting compliance with AECOM policy and procedures, assessing (sub)contractor SH&E performance and qualifications, project/program SH&E auditing, input on proposals, providing project/program SH&E oversight, implementing behavioral safety programs, practicing prevention through design and more.
  • Experience working in and/or supporting SH&E programs in the following is expected: HAZWOPER, UXO, transportation design/construction, general construction, oil & gas, energy production and delivery, water/waste Water treatment design/construction, chemical manufacturing, etc.
  • The candidate must be able to contribute to AECOM's Americas SH&E program supporting the development of policy and procedure, SH&E communications, recognition and reward programs and SH&E performance.
  • This position may have budgeting responsibilities.
Requirements:


  • A minimum of 5 years of experience directly managing a SH&E program as senior level manager is required.
  • Demonstrative regulatory knowledge and expertise regarding OSHA, USACE, DOT, EPA and other applicable SH&E regulations (e.g. state) is a requirement.
  • Travel with overnight stays will be required and may account for >50% of time.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and/or Health, Safety Engineering or allied degree; Certified Safety Professionals (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH) are strongly desired. If not certified the individual will be required to be in 24 months or less as part of their career development.
