Job Description:  The Director, Global Infrastructure will oversee multiple technology teams, including Network, Server, Storage and Database.   These teams will have direct reports as well as matrixed team members across the globe.   This leader must be a thought leader ... a problem solver ... an innovator ... but also somebody who knows that a seat at the table must be earned with Operational Excellence first and foremost.
 
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

• Collaborate with the Global CTO, his direct reports and various IT leaders around the world, along with third parties, to develop and support technology requirements and initiatives globally.
• Recruit, retain and develop world-class talent, specifically in the areas of server, network, database and storage.
• Ensure that our server, network, database and storage environments are operating at their peak potential.
• Lead the technology planning for a multi-year roadmap around the core infrastructure areas.
• Develop and execute ideas to optimize costs and benefits around our technology investment.
• Develop and execute a long-term plan that includes a migration to agile infrastructure.
• Provide input into and facilitate communication out of various technology and innovation boards.  
• Establish partnerships with key suppliers to drive world-class support / operational excellence as well as strategic partnerships, innovative thought leadership and proactive solutions.
• Provide thought leadership and strategic visioning for areas that include, but aren't limited to machine learning, next-generation computing platforms, mobility, backup and recovery, cloud computing, virtualization, collaboration and more.
• Globally, drive best practices, standards, centers of excellence and follow-the-sun support models.
• Help build-out an ITIL-based service catalogue of revenue-generating IT service offerings for existing or potential clients.
• Define, select and support deployment of technologies to enhance and facilitate world-class infrastructure.  
• Improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Support business development efforts by proposing     innovative technology differentiators to assist in capture and delivery of work globally.

• Willing to travel internationally as needed.  Estimated travel less than 20%.

Experience

The successful candidate will be a hands-on, collaborative, technology-oriented leader and a strategic thinker, skilled in developing strategic plans and programs and accomplishing business objectives.  

• Experience and oversight of teams executing with the following technologies (Servers: Dell, IBM, etc; OS: Windows, Linux, etc; Network: Cisco, Riverbed, Juniper, etc; Storage: Commvault, NetApp, Compellant, Symantec, etc.;   Databases: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle)
• Global, large company experience managing teams in excess of 100+ and budgets in excess of $20MM.
• Experience in implementing technology to solve business problems in distributed, high labor environments.  
• A/E/C experience preferred but not required.
• A demonstrable record of leading bold strategic technology initiatives and delivering outstanding results.
• Technology breadth.   Experience in IT infrastructure and applications development; ability to understand IT and client technical requirements.
• Six Sigma, LEAN and/or other process improvement and statistical methodologies encouraged.   Certifications preferred.
• A science, engineering, technology-related degree is desired.   Others such as finance or business are also ok. 
  Advanced studies preferred.
• Well-developed teambuilding and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address needs and challenges of AECOM business leaders and clients
• A style that is forthright, receptive and persuasive throughout all levels of the organization  
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES

1. Bachelor's Degree.   Concentration in Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance or related field is preferred.   Master's Degree preferred
2. 10 - 15 years of experience, either at a Director-level or a Sr. Manager-level.
3. Understanding of enterprise scale business and technical architectures
4. Demonstrated financial and business process knowledge including procurement, financial back office functions, vendor management, etc.
5. Prior leadership in a global IT organization and company
6. Experience with global ERP systems, business intelligence systems, project accounting systems and/or other enterprise-class solutions.
7. Experience in planning, facilitating, and managing change
8. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills are mandatory.   Strong executive presence.
9. Proven ability to negotiate and influence decisions at senior and executive management levels and within a matrix organization
10. PMP and/or Six Sigma certification strongly preferred
11. Ability to work in a matrixed, dual-report environment where not all resources are directly owned by you
12. Experience in delivering process improvement initiatives and experience with business capability mapping tools such as process and value stream mapping, QFD and SWOT analysis, affinity diagrams, or other related process-oriented tools
13. Architecture, engineering and construction experience preferred.
