Minimum Requirements: • High School diploma or GED and two years experience working in a control room environment OR two years of college education • Strong written and oral communication skills • Experienced in and/or knowledgeable of traffic monitoring and traffic control systems • Experienced in and/or knowledgeable of call-taking/dispatching • Emergency Operations Center knowledge and/or experience • Capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast paced environment • Familiarity with Metropolitan Richmond Interstates and local roadways • Computer literate; Windows-based application experience • Scheduling flexibility • Current Virginia Drivers License

NOTE: This position is designated as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations. VDOT/Contract Management will determine when essential positions are required. DMV records check by the Department is required. Criminal History Records Check and Fingerprint check is required. Job Description: Scope of Work: • Use Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) to monitor major portions of Metropolitan Richmond Interstate highway system • Monitor: Virginia State Police Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and various communications channels • Activate appropriate response(s) to detected and/or reported incidents; includes dispatch of Safety Service Patrol (SSP) and location assistance to first responders • Access and control traffic management devices (video cameras, Changeable Message Signs, Highway Advisory Radio System) • Generate, receive, and respond to calls pertaining to various persons/organizations/agencies • Record all appropriate Control Room activities in incident database • Make appropriate entries in VaTraffic; responsible for Region-wide VaTraffic Quality Assurance • Responsible for timeliness, completeness and accuracy of assigned administrative requirements • Create and submit internal Work Orders for equipment failures or malfunctions • When directed by the VDOT, function as a member of Emergency Response Team • Other duties as assigned by the Control Room Shift Supervisor EOE M/F/D/V
