Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related degree.
• Minimum seven years of relevant experience.
• Experience in air permitting through SCAQMD and have a strong understanding of Local, State, and Federal Air Regulations.
• Experience managing complex projects and leading project teams is also required.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills, strong Microsoft Office skills (i.e., Word, Excel, Access), and good technical writing skills.
• URS is looking for a motivated, team-oriented individual to be part of our expanding Environmental Compliance Division as an Environmental Compliance Specialist with a strong focus in air quality permitting and compliance work. The assignment will involve complex air permitting work for one of our major clients in the South Bay.
• This position requires successful completion of the URS Project Management Certification program within 12 months of hire. This certification program is a series of learning modules and is available on-line through the URS Learning Management System at no financial cost to the employee.
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.


Job Description:

The URS Long Beach office is looking for an air permitting and compliance specialist to manage a large long-term and complex local project. This person will work with directly with the client at their location and will be supported by other URS staff. They will also be responsible for the financial performance of this project. This engineer/scientist will work with the project team, the client, and the regulatory agency to secure air permits for new equipment and operations, to modify existing permits, and to respond to information requests and respond to technical questions from the client team and the regulatory agency.

Other requirements of the position may include:
• Prepare permit applications for submittal to southern California regulatory agencies including SCAQMD, SBAPCD, SDAPCD, SJVAPCD, DTSC, CUPAs, BOE, and RWQCB.
• Supervise and mentor staff that would work on environmental compliance projects.
• Perform marketing and business development related to environmental consulting services.
• Establish and maintain client relationships for their project and for other project managers they are working with.
• Project manager for air quality and environmental compliance projects.
