Minimum Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent with three years experience in related field technician position. • 40-hour OSHA training or the ability to obtain one. • Must have the ability to read and implement sampling plans, operation and maintenance plans, health and safety plans. • The candidate must have an expert understanding of the current equipment and technology used to gather samples and information from the field. • Must have the ability to prepare detailed notes and field documentation. • Must have the ability to troubleshoot problems with mechanical remediation systems and make necessary repairs or corrective actions as needed. • Must have good verbal and written communication skills. • Must also have the ability to function autonomously on routine tasks. It is important to be able to work with limited supervision on non-routine or complex task. • Must have valid drivers license. • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. Job Description: The Infrastructure & Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Project Field Technician for immediate employment in the Kenova, West Virginia office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Environmental Sciences, specific to Project Field Technician. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including Environmental site investigations and remediation.
The selected candidate will operate and maintain remediation systems per specifications. Collect samples of environmental media to evaluate and document effective operation of systems. Assist with preparation of routine submittals to regulatory agencies to document system performance and compliance with permit requirements. Assist with environmental site investigations and remediation. Coordinate with site field personnel, contractors, and laboratories. Oversee work and safety of contractors. Collect soil, water, and vapor samples using approved sampling plans and industry accepted methods. Document work with detailed field notes. Occasional overtime and weekend work maybe required. Travel is estimated at 90%-100%. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to those stated above.
