Minimum Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Must have basic knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN, and WAN concepts, Server Hardware, Storage hardware, Print Servers, Active Directory, HP Switches and backup software. Experience and ability to perform duties with the Windows OS up to Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2. • Able to diagnose hardware and software problems, and work with vendor's support staff • Requires excellent customer service skills consisting of verbal and written communication with users of diverse disciplines and levels of authority. • Must be self-motivated with an interactive personality with a team mindset. • Must be available for after hours and offsite support as needed or scheduled for hardware and software related issues. • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. Job Description: The Information Technology Services of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented IT support individual for immediate employment in the Seattle, WA office. The appropriately qualified applicant primary duty for this position is to provide IT support services to all users located in the office including all IE offices in North America. The incumbent can look forward to projects including building proficiency with the Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 platform, and the opportunity to work with critical operations software including Symantec Altiris products, Service Desk ticketing software, and the opportunity to work in a team supporting employees in a large corporate environment. This discipline is responsible for logging, evaluating, and troubleshooting incoming requests to the Service Desk. Responsibilities • Is present in the call queue to take incoming requests. • Troubleshoots and repairs problem or broken computer equipment. • May run diagnostic programs to resolve problems. • Evaluates computer system performance and specifications to determine feasibility of expanding or enhancing computer capabilities. • Makes recommendations for improvements on computer system. • Independently manages Service Desk tickets and tasks. Works with supervisor and other IT personnel to prioritize tickets and resolve conflicts. • Assists users to resolve computer-related problems, such as inoperative hardware or software, and to use new software or hardware. • Refers to vendor knowledge bases, technical journals or manuals, and attends vendor seminars to learn about new computer hardware and software. • Documents installation or upgrades of new or modified software and hardware. • Will complete tasks assigned when physical interaction with PC or user is needed. • Customer satisfaction • Perform duties related to desktop support currently running the Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 7 Operating Systems, including PC configuration, software installation, troubleshooting software and hardware issues, and providing a high level of customer service in end-user software support. • Will play a critical role in upholding current company policies and procedures specific to the use of company technology. • Performs preliminary troubleshooting on network connectivity issues and works to resolve systemic issues. • Independently performs most assignments with instruction as to the general results as expected. • Works with Corporate IT staff when necessary to troubleshoot corporate network resources. • Will be supported by technical management on unusual or complex issues and will refer systemic issues to the position supervisor. • Other Duties as assigned Physical Demands and Working Conditions • Ability to lift computer monitors and other equipment The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to those stated above.
