Summary:
The role directly supports the Whole Foods core value of “Creating Wealth thru Profits and Growth” by supporting critical retail operational decisions and strategy through reporting and analysis. This role will be responsible for managing relevant toolsets and translating business results to many different customers.

Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to the reporting and commentary around daily, weekly and periodic sales. Uses a variety of tools to provide insight into customer and basket trends, market penetration trends and other analysis as requested.
  • Works with regional Accounting Team Leader and FP&A Team to support analysis of financial results as required throughout the period. Supports the review and write-up of results.
  • Supports reporting of all components of margin for tracking and measuring operational performance across all retail locations.
  • Supports the reporting rationalization and re-development project team. Main resource for administering systems associated with automation of reporting and proposed changes to existing processes.
  • Supports Store Business Analysts through development and design of reporting specific to their store needs. Responsible for delivering efficient and meaningful tools that can be adapted and applied on a routine basis with minimal intervention.
  • Prepares regional reporting suite to allow focus on the opportunities identified through periodic reviews by the Regional Finance Leadership for a period or a quarter.
  • Supports the annual budgeting process by producing metrics, reporting and analysis as required throughout the process for the FP&A and Business Analyst teams.
  • Provides reporting, analysis and insight into the financial results of regional or global initiatives.
  • Delivers quarterly metric reporting used in the All-Star Rankings.
  • Other Ad-Hoc reporting, analysis and projects on request.

Qualifications/Skills:
  • 2-4 years progressive experience in Finance or Accounting roles
  • Retail Finance experience preferred
  • Advanced Office Suite knowledge, particularly in Excel by leveraging data manipulation using database reference functions, pivot tables, complex and nested formulas and charting
  • Technical curiosity and desire to innovate with information gathering, presentation and distribution
  • Ability and willingness to seek out answers, not just ask for them (tie to reports, drill in to details, find anomalies etc)
  • Knowledge of statistical measures, financial metrics and planning processes
  • Background in Multi-dimensional/OLAP Reporting Systems: SAP BPC, Hyperion Essbase preferred (Dimensions, members, properties and how to leverage them)
  • Peoplesoft experience preferred
  • VBA knowledge a plus (Macros and custom code)
  • Knowledge of Income Statement General Ledger Accounts for Retail Industry

Essential Job Functions:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat.
  • Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds. Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
  • Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
