TNC POSITION SUMMARY This Senior Project Manager will manage projects in the Administrative Services portfolio, with primary responsibility for Finance systems projects. S/he will report to the TIS Administrative Services Program Director, and work directly with the Finance systems project's executive steering committee. This Senior Project Manager will work closely with one or more staff and consultants throughout the project lifecycle. S/he will also actively engage functional working teams comprised of staff from multiple Conservancy departments and locations. The Senior Project Manager will therefore be responsible for achieving an appropriate balance between consensus-based decision-making and the need to keep the project on course and on schedule. TNC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Senior Project Manager manages and leads high risk projects (e.g. large scale, new technology, complex integration, uncertain business needs), or multiple medium risk projects. For these projects, s/he establishes project goals and success factors, develops project plans, budgets and schedules with input and buy-in from key stakeholders and team members, and leads the project teams to successfully achieve those goals in the most cost-effective and time-efficient manner possible. S/he balances cost, schedule, budget, quality and scope. S/he creates appropriate mitigation plans, and proactively anticipates and removes barriers to progress. Throughout the project lifecycle, the Senior Project Manager monitors and measures project progress, conducts corrective action as necessary, communicates project status information to all stakeholders, performs risk management, and resolves issues and controls project scope and quality. S/he manages changes to the project ensuring impacts are fully understood by all. S/he identifies potential risks during project conception and works with senior management on strategies that reduce exposure to risk across the organization. S/he ensures coordination among multiple TNC departments, TIS units, TNC partners, vendors and volunteers. The Senior Project Manager obtains go/no-go decisions at all project decision points, and identifies and obtains approval for all project deliverables from the appropriate QA review teams. S/he leads the cross-organizational, cross-functional project team in using TIS methodologies and processes, and ensures all TIS standards are met. S/he is the project management leadership for the business team. The Senior Project Manager works with senior IT management to develop and enhance IT strategies, methodologies, processes and standards, creates templates, and selects and implements project management tools. S/he researches and incorporates industry best practices as appropriate for TIS. S/he provides project management mentorship for project leads as requested, and works with supervisors of team members to assist in their professional development. S/he acts as a resource to other project managers to provide project management guidance and expertise. S/he is a recognized expert in multiple portfolio business domains and regularly contributes innovative ideas for how projects can contribute to the business. S/he has the capability to effectively contribute to performance management (e.g. insights in areas for growth) and is a key contributor to product roadmaps for the portfolio. This position may supervise other staff. TNC BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
