Job Description:  General Summary: This is a dual report position reporting to assigned Associate Meat Coordinator and assigned Associate Seafood coordinator.  Support overall merchandising of Meat and Seafood departments with Meat & Seafood Team Leaders including seasonal promotions.  Responsible for new store openings and Meat and Seafood team operations including inventory procedures, product movement and shelf sets.  Ensure implementation of regional and national Meat and Seafood Programs.  Participate in Team Leader job Dialogues with the Store Team Leader.  Maintain department profitability, increase department sales, and special projects as assigned.
 
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Merchandising Management
  1. Execute all regional Meat and Seafood programs at store level
  2. Plan and follow through on resets and new store openings
  3. Execute regional merchandising standards
  4. Assist in execution of weekly product and merchandising strategies for stores.
  5. Work in the stores 5 days a week
Team Development & Communication
  1. Maintain great working relationship with the Meat and Seafood associate Coordinators through daily communications and weekly updates.
  2. Educate team members about products, selling techniques, and environmental issues.
  3. Maintain a strong store presence.
  4. Participate in team leader interviews and job dialogues
  5. Establish and communicate future vision of Meat and Seafood teams in the region
  6. Execute regional training programs
  7. Assist in special projects as defined by the Meat and Seafood Associate Coordinators.
  8. Focus on team development including Team leaders, associate team leaders, buyers, Supervisors, meat specialist trainers, meat specialist, apprentices, ready to cook lead, receivers, and Team members
Financial Management
  1. Support Stores to achieve financial targets on Margin, Labor,  spoilage and all financials
  2. Support store in achieving positive comps to exceed store comps.
 
Safety & Sanitation
  1. Enforce Whole Foods Market quality standards
  2. Maintain food safety standards
  3. Verify Meat and Seafood teams are following Good Organic standards and procedures
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
  1. 3 Years Meat retail leadership experience, or equivalent
  2. Working knowledge of Seafood systems ,product and programs
  3. Proven leadership skills
  4. Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  5. Computer literacy including Microsoft Word and Excel
  6. Ability to travel extensively (throughout the Midwest Region including Canada as assigned)
  7. Clear understanding of margins/profitability/inventory control
  8. Extensive Meat and Seafood product knowledge
  9. Ability to fully articulate the meat and seafood programs to customers through great customer service.
  10. Full understanding of regional marketing strategies and verbiage.
  11. Ability to prioritize
  12. Excellent follow through
  13. Must be versed in food handling laws (per every regional state)
  14. Proven track record in mentoring
  15. Flexible availability including weekends, holiday and nights as needed
  16. Complete other duties as assigned.
 
Essential Job Functions:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat.
  • Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds.  Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
  • Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
