The Wheatstone LNG Project is a multi-train Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and domestic gas (DomGas) plant near Onslow on the Pilbara Coast. Bechtel is honored to participate in the engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up of this LNG plant.

Bechtel is seeking a Field Engineer - Welding to join the Wheatstone LNG Project working from the Onslow site.

Role Overview

Implement and maintain Bechtel Field Welding program
Provide specialized welding engineering support for construction to ensure construction meets all code and Bechtel procedures
Assist in the management of the pre- and post-weld heat treatment program
Assist in the management of the rod room and rod room attendent to ensure all weld filler materials are controled and meet Bechtel and Code requirements
Schedule and coordinate with construction and subcontractors for the best possible shooting schedule at the least cost and least impact to construction
Manage and monitor the welding test lab to insure high quality welders are being tested and hired
Work with the team to keep up tp date with weld documents and ensure the credibility/accountability of the Welding Program
Manage issue and maintain welder qualifications and welder stamps
Perform field inspections of welding work, and advise on rectification of quality behaviours and defects prior to final inspection

Basic Qualifications

Degree qualification in Engineering or equivalent is preferred
Demonstrated field welding experience on a major capital project
Strong background in welding with experience in preheat & post weld heat treatment is preferred
Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience
Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner
Strong supervision experience including the ability to lead and manage change is desirable
Demonstrated experience in liaising with and coordinating contractors

*** Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
