TNC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Oregon Director of Marketing and Engagement is responsible for the development, creation and implementation of strategies designed to broaden support for conservation, build The Nature Conservancy's influence and achieve fundraising goals of The Nature Conservancy in Oregon. S/he will serve as the director of Oregon's Engagement Initiative, one of seven strategic initiatives for the state. This is part of a larger, Conservancy-wide strategy to engage, inspire and activate a broader constituency in support of conservation. Outcomes include inspiring people to act, increased revenue, and engaging a younger and more diverse audience. The Director of Marketing and Engagement reports to the Oregon State Director. S/he serves as a member of the Oregon Chapter's executive leadership team, working collaboratively to establish marketing/outreach goals, support long-term strategic planning and fiscal management, and ensure integration of chapter priorities within the marketing and outreach program. Marketing : S/he manages all aspects of the marketing program in Oregon, and may include supervision of staff and volunteers. S/he works closely with various constituents including senior staff, field offices, outside consultants and other key stakeholders to ensure delivery of marketing goals, and leads the Marketing Committee of the Oregon Board of Trustees. S/he works in collaboration with other state chapters and our regional and national marketing departments to ensure work product delivery is consistent with the vision and goals of TNC enterprise. S/he coordinates operational delivery of branding principles whether applied internally, outbound or with external partners. S/he has financial responsibility to develop and manage production and department budgets. Membership : S/he serves as the Chapter's lead on member and supporter engagement and retention, in coordination with the Conservancy's Membership Department and Oregon's Philanthropy Department. Community Engagement : S/he works closely with conservation staff, the Oregon Volunteer Program Director, and Chapter leadership to develop a strategic community engagement program that will build a broader constituency in Oregon in support of conservation. This includes identifying and prioritizing new opportunities, effectively engaging our target audiences, and creating and evaluating new programs and partnerships aimed at these groups. S/he may plan, organize, coordinate, promote, and facilitate special events. S/he may provide oversight and strategic planning for the Chapter's volunteer programs. S/he works with opinion leaders in local communities, conservation groups, government agencies and the academic community to develop successful strategies for advancing conservation in Oregon. Media Relations : S/he develops media and public relations plans that support the Oregon program, cultivates local/regional print and broadcast media and publicizes priority conservation issues. S/he will manage crisis communications when called upon, and act as spokesperson for the Conservancy at the discretion of the Oregon State Director. Government Relations : S/he coordinates with Oregon's Government Relations staff in their implementation of a comprehensive government relations program to build the Conservancy's ability to influence government policy and legislation at all levels to further the Conservancy's mission. S/he delivers marketing assistance to the Oregon's Government Relations staff with building grassroots support for statewide policy and funding initiatives that support TNC's mission. Corporate Engagement : S/he develops, coordinates and supports strategies that establish and build corporate relationships, and engage the business sector in the conservation work of The Conservancy and its partners. S/he coordinates with Oregon's Philanthropy Director to target business sector investment for projects through identifying, cultivating and soliciting corporate donors and investors. The Director of Marketing and Engagement must have a strong connection to nature, understanding of the fundamentals of conservation and commitment to the mission of The Nature Conservancy. AUTO SAFETY POLICY This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers." Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.
