TNC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Director of Finance/Grants Specialist is directly responsible for providing financial analysis, budgeting and other financial support, and administration of all aspects of private and government-funded awards. S/he will provide assistance with the development of annual budgets, fiscal year closeout and general financial analysis for both publicly and privately funded grants and core program functions. Close consultation with the operating unit manager, preparation and review of clear and timely financial reports, and close collaboration with operations and legal staff are required to ensure sound and smart business operations. This position will support the Gulf of Mexico Program (GOM)/Central Division and will provide support to the five Gulf of Mexico states as needed. The Director of Finance/Grants Specialist will work closely with the GOM unit manager to develop a broad understanding of the program's financial resources, including publicly and privately funded awards. S/he will work with funding agency contacts to clarify or negotiate financial and administrative requirements of agreements, and with the Conservancy's Legal Department to coordinate legal review and signature. S/he is directly responsible for financial accounting and administrative management of all aspects of these agreements including review of proposals and preparation of budgets, set-up in central finance systems, preparation and submission of all invoices and financial reports to agencies, payment tracing and application, maintenance of master agreement files, and coordination of audits required by local authorities. Duties may also include assisting and training project managers in the preparation of budgets for individual grants and contracts, training other finance staff in grants administration and accounting, and supporting Grants Specialists in the five Gulf states. The Director of Finance/Grants Specialist is also directly responsible for the administrative aspects of grants out to grantee organizations, including assistance with due diligence activities, preparation and revision of agreements, review of invoices and financial reports, and maintenance of grant files. S/he works closely with project managers to ensure that the terms and conditions of agreements are met and properly documented, works directly with finance staff to clarify or negotiate financial and administrative requirements, and ensures that award monitoring meets Conservancy standards. S/he is the primary point of contact for local grantees on award administration issues and assists Operating Unit management with preparation of the work plan in response to internal grantee audits. S/he is responsible for tracking the resolution of action items detailed in audit response work plans. This position may supervise staff and/or provide guidance to less experienced grants specialists. The preferred location is Altamonte Springs, Florida. TNC BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
