The staff level person filling this position will be expected to conduct independent task execution and reporting for natural resource projects under general direction. Individual will research and solve technical problems in accordance with accepted practice/methodology and accurately report results. All work activities will be expected to be planned and completed in a culture of safe and incident free operations. Job duties include general field surveys for biological resources, focused sensitive species surveys, wetlands surveys and permitting (CWA, CDFG Section 1600), preparation of biological reports, preparation and implementation of mitigation plans, and preparation of biological resources sections of CEQA and NEPA. This position will report to and be guided by one or more Project Managers. This position will be based on our Bakersfield, California office. Required Qualifications Ability and desire to participate in field assignments, potentially to other regions, ranging from several days to months at a time will be essential Demonstrable proficiency with the flora and fauna of the San Joaquin Valley. Good interpersonal skills, self-motivated, and team oriented. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Ability and desire to perform extensive field work on potentially challenging terrain and during adverse weather conditions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint is required. One to two years of natural resource experience. Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or related field from accredited college or university is required. Experience in identification and habitat assessment of avian, mammalian, amphibian, and reptilian species. Recovery permit and/or designation of species proficiency considered a benefit.
