Job Description:  AECOM currently has an opportunity for an Intermediate Bridge Engineer to join the growing team of professionals in our Transportation Bridge Group in Piscataway, New Jersey. In this role, you will contribute in bridge design while bringing a fresh outlook to the team.
Specifics of the role include:

  • Conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of new bridges utilizing pre-stressed concrete, reinforced concrete, and structural steel components
  • Inspection, assessment and rehabilitation design of existing bridges
  • Load evaluation of existing bridges
  • Some project management
  • Proficient in the use of computer software for the analysis and design of complex structures
  • Ability to work under occasional pressure within tight timeframes
  • Experience in preparation of technical specifications and professional sealing of design documents, report writing, technical engineering support, and inspection during construction
Excellent written and oral communication skills, coupled with an ease and ability to make presentations are paramount.  As a team-player you are professional in dealing with colleagues of all levels and disciplines.  This position is an opportunity to work within a well-established and very successful group that offers a diverse range of projects, technical challenges and career development opportunities.
Requirements:

  • Structural Engineer with 5-10 or more years experience in bridge design
  • Project experience on projects in New Jersey
  • A current P.E. license (S.E. preferred) in the State of New Jersey; New York P.E. a plus
  • Master's degree a plus
  • Project management skills, including proposal preparation
  • Staff development and management abilities
  • Occasional travel; driving to/from job sites
  • Structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools, software)
  • Critical thinking and analysis
  • Knowledge of current structural modeling software tools, including finite element analysis software
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, including technical report writing
