Broad working knowledge of precedents in the specialty area of CP, the principles and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating work with other technical disciplines. Plans and coordinates independent work requiring judgment and experience in the application of engineering techniques. Devises new approaches to technical problems. Knowledgeable of and performs standard discipline engineering activities on projects of relatively small size and complexity within the business line with minimal technical oversight. Coordinates technical issues with other departments on projects including constructability requirements and reviews. Provides technical direction for specific tasks and assigns work to subordinate senior engineers, engineers, designers, drafters or project sub-groups. Position Duties/Responsibilities: The CP engineer will work as part of a design team developing the detailed design of onshore oil and gas facilities. They will work closely with engineers in Electrical, Piping, Pipelines and Civil engineering disciplines. They will report to the Lead Engineer (Materials Engineering Technology). They will have experience in CP of buried piping on complex onshore plant and CP of cross-country pipelines. Duties will include the following: Establish survey requirements for onshore facilities and pipelines, including the survey of the ground conditions and survey of potential sources of CP interference. Provide support to site survey teams. Prepare scopes of work for CP design, supply and installation. Develop philosophies defining the project specific approach to cathode protection design. Design of CP systems. Perform materials take-offs. Prepare design reports. Requisition CP materials. Prepare subcontracts Development of technical specifications and datasheets for CP equipment. Develop and perform AC and DC interference assessments. Review technical bids Review supplier's technical documentation. Support to project through the construction and commissioning phases Specific capabilities required for the role include: A sound knowledge of the design, installation and operation of cathodic protection systems for onshore oil and gas plant. Candidate should have held a senior industrial position in corrosion or materials engineering Knowledge of major design and materials standards for CP The CP engineer will work as part of a MET team and should also have a basic knowledge of other materials technologies including: Corrosion control Welding Nondestructive examination Paint and coatings Thermal insulation Applicants should identify any Leadership Skills and any relevant Supervisory Experience they have Position Skills: Corrosion engineering or CP: Chartered Engineer-Degree Level Other Remarks/Qualifications: Opportunity for international travel Bechtel is among the most respected engineering, procurement, and construction companies in the world.
