JOB FUNCTION: Responsible for providing technical support for the database environment. This includes supporting the development and organization of the databases, performing assessments, and aiding in the implementation of new database technologies. It is extremely important to the company that on-line processing database systems offer the highest reliability and performance possible. The DBA is challenged to advise the IT Manager regarding architecture, application development, and operations to help achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives. The DBA also works to provide a working model of our transaction processing environment for capacity assessment and planning through the use of Reporting Services Report Models. Primarily supporting an Oracle environment, databases include the Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system MAXIMO, and the integration and operation of AECOM's internal automated management and finance and accounting systems such as Deltek (CostPoint / Time &Expense). There are also several smaller application specific Microsoft SQL databases to support as well, to include SQL Reporting Services. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Assisting in the development of methodology used for the ongoing assessment of database performance and the identification of problem areas. Maintaining security schemes for the database environment, as well as assisting in disaster recovery if necessary. Providing technical expertise during the development and enhancement of production database applications including working with applications, technical support and operations during the design, development and implementation of database applications. Working with the transaction processing area to develop both the physical and the logical database administration functions and assists in the development of our processing database and computing environments. Working with others in MIS to build the logical database area and provide technical guidance during all phases of the development process. Assisting Management with the design and implementation of Report Writing Working with vendors in evaluating and implementing new database technologies. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1-3 years Oracle/Microsoft SQL Server experience Understanding of relational database environments Knowledge of basic report writing, query tools, and database practices Technical documentation skills Self motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Good written and oral communication skills. EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Science, or equivalent work experience. Directly related work experience may be substituted for required education on the basis of two years relevant paid work experience for each year of desired post secondary education, or equivalent combination of formal education and experience. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year work in data processing, management information systems, or equivalent. 2 -3 years IT operation with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Oracle / SQL Server 2008 Deltek Applications Benthic/TOAD/SQL Developer Microsoft Visual Studio SECURITY: Must be a U.S. Citizen, and able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
