We are seeking entry level and experienced operators for South Florida. Operators are responsible for monitoring the roadways, including detecting, confirming, and responding to scheduled and unscheduled traffic events and congestion according to established policies and procedures. The following are requirements of the position:
- Experience in a police/fire or transportation dispatch or call center environment is preferred.
- The ability to prioritize and perform real-time traffic management activities within time constraints during crisis or other stressful situations
- The ability to monitor and process information from closed circuit television cameras, roadway detection systems, radio communications and scanners
- The ability to read, interpret and act in accordance with technical documents such as system rules and operating procedures or guidelines.
- Full-range of physical mobility, visual acuity and the ability to sit for long periods of time
- Familiarity with local freeways and arterial roads
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Operational knowledge and skill in the use of Window's operating system, Microsoft Word and Excel
- The ability to work alternate schedules (nights, weekends and holidays) and short-notice work assignments
The following additional skills are a plus but not required:
- Knowledge of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
- Knowledge of Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and/or Highway Advisory Radio (HAR)
- Knowledge of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus
