Minimum Requirements:

• BS Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structures
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in bridge engineering or related field
• Must have a PE in California
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Job Description:

The position will be part of the Bridge Department, which is responsible for the structural design of highway bridges, railroad bridges, light rail bridges, retaining walls and other highway transportation structures. This will include the preparation of calculations and drawings, use of computer programs to model structural components, checking of calculations, drawings and shop drawings, calculation of quantities and cost estimates. Assignments may include bridge rehabilitation or replacement, or interchange design or design build projects for steel and concrete (precast or cast-in-place) bridges.

Responsibilities will include:
• Mentoring junior and middle-level professional staff.
• Reviewing technical memos, reports, plans, specifications and estimates.
• Preparing technical proposals and presentations.
• Providing technical expertise for resolution of bridge design issues.
• Providing technical guidance to projects, technical reviews, development of technical strategies to resolve design issues.
