Minimum Requirements: The minimum qualifications for this position include: • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or related field • Minimum 9 years of experience as a manager or similar role overseeing the operation and maintenance of municipal water and/or wastewater utilities • Experience creating asset management inventory and plans and understanding all aspects of operations, maintenance, replacement and capital improvement planning required • Knowledge and understanding of the annual rate setting and budget process • Must understand all technical processes included in the water and wastewater process • Knowledge of sustainable practices in the water and wastewater industry • Knowledge of Western Michigan water/wastewater market • Existing relationships with Western Michigan water/wastewater authorities • Experience preparing proposals, conducting presentations, developing reports, utility budgets and capital improvement plans • People management experience, including managing technical staff and/or large projects • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite • Valid driver's license required • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test Job Description: The successful candidate will be responsible for growing the water/wastewater business in Western Michigan. Serve as the project and client manager for water/wastewater projects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Development of business development and marketing strategies for targeted clients, implementation of business development strategies including regular client contact, and project management and client management for water/wastewater engineering projects • Assist in all aspects of Water/Wastewater Business Development, Planning and Engineering for Western Michigan (This includes project technical development through preparation of feasibility studies, reports, plans, grant and loan applications and sustainable plans for all aspect of water and wastewater utility operation) • Coordinate with the Water/Wastewater Business Line Manager to maximize the use of resources, develop detailed strategic plans and programs, and to identify key project opportunities as early as possible • Assist in developing water/wastewater capabilities for the Grand Rapids office • Identify, pursue and win profitable water/wastewater projects • Meet or exceed predetermined business development targets • Lead proposal preparation and make presentations to potential clients • Develop and maintain excellent client relationships • Provide coaching and technical expertise to employees • Lead sustainable focused water/wastewater projects as Project Manager • Ensure the delivery of quality professional services and deliverables • Maintain a high local and regional profile • Identify market needs and trends
