Summary of Role: SunPower is seeking a Senior Buyer to be responsible for procurement strategy and execution delivering high quality, cost-effective services for custom project requirements utilizing standard, best in class processes. This position is responsible for supporting solar photo-voltaic utility-scale power construction projects, Commercial and Residential solar installations.

This position will be responsible for negotiation and execution of contracts for selected subcontractors/suppliers to meet cost, quality and performance goals. And is also responsible for development and execution of subcontractor performance metrics.

This role will be responsible for development of the procurement plan/strategy, obtaining qualified subcontractors, creation of bid package, coordination of all communications, review/leveling bid submissions, obtaining internal alignment of bidder selection, negotiation on cost and terms & conditions, order placement processes in an ERP environment, monitoring supplier performance, and advising the business on the market conditions and future strategy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Achieve cost, quality, and performance goals and objectives for standard and custom products.
  • Collaboration w/ Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and EPC (Construction) to develop plan/strategy/decisions for current and future project alignment.
  • Develop professional bid package, lead negotiations, and select bidder recommendation for Senior Executive Team.
  • Qualify subcontractors, maintaining adequate coverage that meets our geographic, product, quality and cost requirements.
  • Represent supplier performance metrics in quarterly business reviews.
  • Acquire and maintain technical understanding of products constructed.
  • Drive cost improvements on identified key goods and services.
  • Some business travel.
  • Adjust to increasing demand for global procurement services.
  • Collaborate in development of Best Practice Procure to Pay processes.
  • Collaborate in development and execution of Forecasting Cost Modeling.
  • SOX Compliance.
Minimum Requirements:
  • 5+ years estimating / project management / supply chain management focused on services
  • BS degree in technical field or equivalent.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Global supply chain experience procuring services in a project environment.
  • Familiarity with world-class sourcing methods and tools.
  • Proven track record in cost reduction.
  • Exceptional ability to solve problems using quality principals and methodology (8D, 3WI, DMAIC)
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with global team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a rapid paced, highly dynamic business environment.
  • Demonstrated strength of analytical skills (i.e. cost modeling, quotation analysis, supplier selection)
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in the use of ERP systems. Oracle R12 preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma methodologies, and PMBOK PLC standards.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel expertise is required.
  • Able to review contract documents including customer contracts, drawings, specifications and special requirements to determine how the work should be broken down and purchased in order to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface and maintain relationships at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Fluent in English.
  • Experience in Construction Industry, civil, electrical or solar preferred.
