Summary of Role: SunPower is seeking a Process Development Engineer primarily for work on the backend (e.g. metallization) of the cell processfor Cell R&D in San Jose, CA. The Development Engineer willreport to theDirector of Cell RD&D, Metals and Lithography, and will be responsible for taking ideas from inception to transfer to manufacturing. This will include process development, characterization/metrology, and the resulting cell performance analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

- Design of experiments and analysis for backend process research and development
- Hands-on owner of process steps under consideration in the research (patterning, deposition, thermal steps)
- Help to drive resolution of key technical questions which gate the development.

Minimum Requirements: - M.S. in EE, Materials Science, Physics, Chem. Eng., etc., will 2 years' experience in PV.
- >2 years of hands-on semiconductor processing
- Demonstrated understanding of the device physics of solar cells, including methods to measure performance (I-V, EL, PL, etc.)
- Experience using or interpreting results from SEM, SIMS, XRD, EDX, Auger, and other commonly used materials characterization methods.
- Ability to work well on a team and to present focused, and well ordered, summaries to them and higher level management
Preferred Requirements: - Ph.D. with > 1 year of industrial PV experience or a M.S. with > 3 years of industrial PV experience.
- Working knowledge of design of experiments (DOE) and the related statistical software (e.g. JMP).
- >3 years of Si processing background together with the knowledge of how specific processing variables could affect cell performance

OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION

- It is anticipated that about 10% of the time will be spent on travel, usually to the manufacturing sites in Asia.
