Summary of Role: Accounting
• Oversee and lead the month-end close process to meet the 5-day close timeline; ensuring adequacy of accruals, propriety of cut-off and timely analysis and determination of required accounting treatments
• Provide clear and accurate business information on a timely basis and on committed timelines to ensure that the business is able to measure performance properly and timely and, thus, effect the smartest decisions for the business
• To the extent of new country entries, own the set-up of the financial processes within Oracle and ensure training in use of the system, adoption and compliance with globally defined processes and policies as well as development of new processes and policies, as required
• Provide technical accounting guidance that conforms with U.S. GAAP, IFRS and local treatments; to the extent applicable, coordinates with Corporate Technical Accounting teams for alignment and concurrence on U.S. GAAP and IFRS treatments
• Provide support to business and country managers on accounting treatment, back office support and policy development and/or alignment for transactions entered into
Reporting
• Provide month-end balance sheet and income statement fluctuation reports at the entity level to entity managers and Corporate Accounting; as well, provide consolidated region results to consolidations teams for stand-alone or combined regions reporting
• Facilitate development of the annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting (BOQ/Outlooks/EOQ) and provide entity level reports to country managers and Corporate Accounting
Statutory and Internal/External Controls
• Ensure timely preparation and audit of financial statements for local entities, protecting the business leader in local statutory, legal and tax compliance
• Ensure legal, tax and statutory compliance of the business by providing review on contracts closed by the business
• Guide the business towards financial and internal control compliance by developing, implementing and ensuring the performance of policies and procedures in daily operations which are aligned with Corporate and regional requirements
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and external/internal audit requirements; monitor performance of key controls and facilitate provision of documents and materials requested for SOX404, external auditor and parent company testing
Minimum Requirements: The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program in finance, accounting or business
- CPA or equivalent with audit experience
- More than 10 years of experience in the field of accounting and related functions in a multi-national environment
- At least 10 years experience in handling and managing General Ledger, financial statement preparation, fixed assets, inventory, joint ventures and related functions
Preferred Requirements: Ability to work in matrix organizations and deliver results through partnership with other functions
- Ability to work with executives, foreign nationality business managers and various levels of the organization
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Aggressive/strong personality, highly analytical and well-organized
- Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint presentation.
- Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley rules are required
- Experienced in, or familiar with, Oracle and Hyperion, proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
- Languages: English and Mandarin a must, other Chinese, Japanese and European languages a plus
